Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes.

So it’s January, and I’m preparing to actually start the new year after 2015s countless utterings of ‘I just need this year to be over’. I wanted to make changes, but I needed them to be simple enough to not FEEL like it.

The first big change really can be accredited to my parents for two reasons; I used their Nutribullet over the Christmas holidays to make Mango daiquiris, and because mums debilitation meant no driving – I got cash for Christmas. Let’s face it, nothing says progress like spending money.

And there was step one of the plan, spend money on something that might support me eating better, and failing all else having consistent, healthy, speedier, EARLIER breakfasts. And you know, it was new and shiny and sharp!

I love this thing, you should get one.

Why I purchased the Nutri Ninja:

  1. The auto-IQ thing. I don’t have to think about what I’m doing, and it has a timer so I can walk away. Did I mention on here yet that I’m lazy?
  2. It’s more powerful.
  3. Having measurements on the cups is actually really handy (the bullet doesn’t).
  4. There are three cup sizes, all larger which has been more versatile for meal prep.
  5. It was on sale at the Good Guys.

Fundamentally, do your research and get something that is right for you. This worked for me. Regardless, I recommend you have some sort of easy blending option.

January breakfasts for the lazy girl with the brand new blender:

  • 1 pink lady apple, roughly chopped.
  • 1 handful of frozen strawberries.
  • 1 handful of frozen blueberries.
  • Cover 2/3 with water.
  • Auto blend for 40 seconds.

That’s it. I’d get up late, shower, spend literally 2 minutes making breakfast and cleaning up, and drink it while I was finishing getting ready (sitting in front of the mirror doing make-up, because I’m a lady and I do ladylike things).

What I accomplished:

  1. Getting over the fact that I hate ‘eating’ too early.
  2. Kick starting my metabolism at least 2 hours earlier than usual – I wasn’t eating until I was getting to work, then getting through some work to justify taking a break.
  3. Booting out unhealthy, processed carbs – I was living on a loaf of raisin toast stored in the work freezer, generally smothered with butter.
  4. Saving money and the cholesterol count – if I didn’t feel like raisin toast I was generally getting a bacon, egg and cheese muffin from the local carvery, or worse yet a breakfast sub from Subway.

I’d feel full in the morning without getting bloated and uncomfortable, and that would sustain me through the morning.

This was my go-to breakfast for a while, but I appreciate some people need variety. I didn’t get a Nutribullet, but I did get their books.

I found these at Target for about $9 each.

You can buy the e-books for about $3 if you are technically and fiscally savvy, but I hate looking at recipes on a tablet.

Google will give you a trillion smoothie recipes pending your taste. I’m not into the green ones and I will not talk about them here *frowny face*. I also generally only respond to recipes with four or five ingredients.

At the time weight loss became a greater focus for me, so fruit and water mixes were my go-to. Now I’m a little further along I’ve introduced more back into my diet – I will share my new morning go-to next time.
