This week is kicking my ass. I know when to pick my battles.
Monday I got to enjoy what is one of the best parts of what I do – making 13 job offers. But despite working through til 8pm this meant I got almost nothing else done. Yesterday I was out of the office delivering a session to one of our teams for pretty much the entire day. Today saw me delivering another couple of presentations (one to my entire department nationally which I was pretty amped-up about!), and being in meetings more often than not.
Today has also marked the impending farewell for my work-wife who is going on to bigger and better things, a commitment on my cousin having brain surgery this weekend, and celebrating the very last day of my best friends chemotherapy after 7 months. I am mentally and emotionally exhausted. Le sigh.
So this evening, I needed something for me. And it wasn’t the lamb and veges pre-prepared and waiting for me in the fridge.

The moral of the story is this. We are all going to have long, exhausting, mental and rubbish days to derail us. If you need to make a break – make it something you enjoy – that you’re not going to completely hate yourself for later. But fundamentally this is about you – so make sure you’re getting whatever you need. Oh, and sushi is the best.
Bon appetit!
